It will look so different in August but for now, we will enjoy it in its full glory. One plant that has been a favorite since Spring is the Cats Pajamas nepeta by Proven Winners.
It does so well for me and has been impressive enough to convince me to tuck it into other areas of the garden for easy-care gorgeousness.
When you have these hard-working perennials that thrive with no interference then you have some great backbone plants to help make your garden easier to care for.
I garden in zone 8 but I face the challenge of being surrounded by evergreens (I live in the mountains) that cast a lot of shade. Plus we get very cool nights even in summer. Many lower zones will actually get blooms long before I do.
